"Crate, pack, clean". Our task the last few days. With a bit of "de-clutter, recycle and dispose" thrown in. Along with some fun packing of a 3.5tonne panel van (like playing tetras). Doughies is officially on the move, from sunny Bournemouth, Dorset, England, to wet but beautiful Fort William, Highland, Scotland. We've now moved all our… Continue reading Doughies on the Move

The Doughies Brand
Doughies took its first step today to getting a brand. Why? Cos today we commissioned John Sutherland, from crofteleven to work up a logo for the launch of Doughies [Fort William]. Exciting stuff. Got me thinking about brands - and how ultimately it's a mark or signature that you associate with a person, company or business.… Continue reading The Doughies Brand
Doughies – 1000 realbread followers please
Been quite inspired by David Hieatt's writeup here on a day course he ran / runs called the do day course. Two bits really jumped out:- The notion of gathering 1000 true followers - for doughies that is YOU; the community around this blog and interested in what we are doing. For any baker it is… Continue reading Doughies – 1000 realbread followers please
the idea
We've been thinking about doughies; trying to shape what we did during the bakers dozen experiment into a core sustainable business idea. And this is that idea (in pictoral and word form!). Here's the basics:- Community (You) Registers and log into the doughies website On the website you can subscribe to a weekly bread-bag delivery… Continue reading the idea

I think it was put simplest when someone stated "when you are trying… Continue reading Startup Thoughts
Looking for a space
Dear Mr Heygate Too formal - how about Robert? We were wondering about the old Throop Mill in Dorset. You own it. It's empty. We need a space to bake some #realbread. We could use it. Can we please use your old mill? Adam & Abs (P.s. We'll keep the vandals away) Doughies
Time for an update!
So we're still working out how to take doughies forward. We've had loads of helpful feedback from our bakers dozen, the overiding comment being that if doughies was selling, they'd be buying. A good sign I think! The past few weeks have been continued experimentation, including Harvest plaits for Mum and Dad's upcoming harvest service.… Continue reading Time for an update!

Very exciting - this week doughies received our first informal order! Are you having a special meal? Got hungry hoards visiting? Drop us a line if you want us to make you some handmade loaves.
Doughies deli-bike
We just won an ebay auction for an 20 year old pashley deli bike! All being well, we're be dusting it off and delivering loaves in victorian style this weekend! Don't forget to go vote for this week here - at the minute olive and rosemary sourdough is in the lead, followed by super seedy -… Continue reading Doughies deli-bike
Bread Proofing Baskets
A slightly delayed post (the last three weeks have been super hectic at doughies!) but finally getting around to blogging a piece about the 12 proofing baskets we are using each week for the baker's dozen experiment. A proofing basket is a shape former; a place to rest the dough whilst it proofs and rises.… Continue reading Bread Proofing Baskets
